Practice SOL
Directions: today you will be going to the computer lab to take a sample SOL RLR test. I want you to remember to use
- Negative Questioning
- Plausible Answers
- and SR3
strategies. Do you remember these? If not, ask a neighbor now. When you complete the test raise your hand, and have the sub mark the percentage next to the dancing tomato.
Go to the website (right click and open link in a new window) www.solpass.org
Click on High School
Click on ENGLISH READING. This is really important, DON'T take the writing test.
Click on 2004 English Reading/Lit
Then take the test. Remember to STUDY the text, know genre, make predictions, know all you can before you read it. then READ the questions. Then REFER to the text to find the answers to the text.

The End
In over a month I've only had one reply to the extra credit. That means, to me, only one person has looked at my blog in over a month. Because of this I have decided to discontinue this service to you. I may post updates, due-dates, or class notes in the future, but only for specific assignments or projects.
I'm sorry this wasn't more useful.

The first person from each block to send me an email with the date of the last time I posted notes for your class on this blog gets points added to their poster grade.

Please refer to the syllabus I handed out on 1/31. This details the reading assignments for the rest of the month. A copy will also be available under COMMENTS.
New Semester! Week 1, January 22-25
We are working on letters to veterans this week. This is actually an assignment in your history class, but since it involves persuasive writing, and we've done a LOT of that, I thought it would be an easy way to get a grade in two classes for doing one assignment.
Mr. Harrell says he wants the letters to make him cry. So don't forget to add those EMOTIONAL appeals!!!
At the end of the week, we're going to start a unit on the American Dream
